Policy cafe Moseley Exchange June 2nd

Nina and I hosted a discussion at lunch time at the Exchange - the idea was to get people talking and thinking around some ideas we presented.
The notion of a freelance world, consortia driven to win new business seemed to resonate.
We discussed the opportunities for small firms ro come together and bid for new business and to seek new solutions.
The paradox of decline in public sector finances with an increase in expectations we felt would lead to innovative solutions to break through.
So, there are new roles here for entrepreneurs to undertake - to marshall other firms to then meet customer needs.
This seems also true for the arts as ACE funding declines, new consortia by working together can self organise and develop innovative programmes.
Some of this is ICT driven, but the role of the entrepreneur in organising others came through as a big opportunity.
This might lead to a need to train for these roles, to support "transfer agents" and to see how other services (Finance,HR) can be aligned too.
An opportunity for spaces like the Exchange to act as a focus for this new cultural economy? Why not.
